It is awarded to ‘a woman who dared to dream and had the ability to translate her dream into reality.’ The late Dayawati Modi, a Karmayogini Sanyasini, was an ordinary woman with extraordinary qualities. Smt. Modi was a champion of the women’s cause. She established schools and colleges in North India. Driven by the motto ‘Work is Worship’. During her lifetime, she received prestigious awards for her social and cultural activities. Smt. Modi is today a legend.

Her dedication to promoting nationalism through her media endeavours has been exemplary. In 2014, she founded News Kashmir, a prominent weekly newspaper that has emerged as a voice for the masses and a bridge between the people and the government under her leadership.
Currently serving as the Treasurer of the Press Club of Kashmir, Farzana continues to champion the cause of ethical journalism and media freedom. Her determination has inspired many women, particularly in Kashmir, to pursue careers in media. She has actively participated in numerous national and global events, contributing to significant movements, including women's empowerment.
